Site Significance and Use:
The museum’s most significant artifact is the façade of the historic Lorraine Motel. As such, preserved rooms 306 and 308, the courtyard, and the balcony of the museum are considered part of the exhibition experience.
Use of these spaces for events or programs, including use by outside entities, must be approved in advance and in writing by the Director of Education & Interpretation or the President.
The balcony may be used for access to the exhibits at rooms 306 and 308 only as a temporary measure during construction or other projects that necessitate a redirection of visitor traffic.
Use of Founders Park by outside entities requires approval consistent with facility use policies and procedures.
Cameras and Video:
Guests are free to post their museum experiences and photos on our social media pages (See social media icon links at the top right of each page). Please limit photography to NO-FLASH cameras, video, or cell phones. Excessive flash can damage some exhibit artifacts.
Media personnel, photojournalists and bloggers must be credentialed 48 hours in advance and requests should be sent to Communications Office at cdyson@civilrightsmuseum.org or call (901) 521-9699, ext. 2292.
Group Tours:
Group tours of 20 or more are eligible for an admission discount if tour is booked a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance. For guidelines visit our Group Tours page.
