School Groups
The National Civil Rights Museum is an ideal excursion for field trips. In addition to the learning opportunities for the students, teachers receive 10% discount every time they shop at the Museum Café or Gift Shop. This offer is good throughout the 2008-09 school year.
School Group Discount (Call for Pricing)
- Minimum of 20 students (K-12)
- One free chaperone per each 7 students (teachers and adults are counted as chaperones)*
- Complimentary admission for bus drivers
- Bus parking is free (security will direct bus drivers to student drop off and pick up locations)
* Chaperones and teachers must remain with their students at all times.
Tour Overview
To get the most out of your visit, please allow about 2 ½ hours. (More or less time may be needed depending
on size of group.) Tours are self guided. Audio tours are available for an additional fee of $2.00 per tour. Guided
tours are also available for an additional $35.00 per hour.
What We Need to Know
- The school address, phone number, e-mail address or fax
- The names of both the school contact and group leader (if different)
- What date(s) and time you would like to tour
- The grade level of your students
- Total number of students in the group
- Total number of all adults in the group
Tips
- It is best if you have a few dates in mind before calling
- Check your school’s calendar to avoid scheduling conflicts
- Be aware of time constraints that could affect your visit and make your sales representative aware of them (i.e. bus schedules, travel times, etc.)
- Review the deposit and cancellation policies
Deposit Policy
- An advance deposit of 50% and the signed confirmation are required two weeks prior to your scheduled
tour in order to hold your reservation.
- Deposits may be paid with a school check, money order, cashier’s check, charge card, or cash.
- Deposits may be paid at the Museum’s box office or mailed directly to the Museum. Please address
payments to the attention of “Group Sales.”
Cancellation Policy
Notification of cancellation must be received one week prior to your scheduled tour date. Reservations cancelled
less than one week prior will forfeit the deposit. Cancellations due to weather conditions are made at the discretion
of the Museum. The National Civil Rights Museum reserves the right to cancel reservations due to inclement weather.
In such case, the Museum will promptly contact the group and will make every attempt to reschedule the visit. It
the visit cannot be rescheduled, the deposit will be refunded.
