Week One 
"No Justice, No Peace.
Know Justice, Know Peace."
Welcome to 50 Weeks of Actions!  You have pledged to join us in improving our communities through peace and direct action.  Over the next 50 weeks, we will explore our MLK50 platforms: poverty, better jobs & higher wages, decent housing, quality education, justice and peace.  Each week, you will receive educational information and action items.  Your pledge was a deliberate commitment to participate in a community action, not a solo performance.  
Share the pledge with your friends and family.  Ask people in your circle to join you in these activities.  Post your thoughts and experiences on social media.  Challenge your churches, schools, and organizations to get involved.

Kids can get involved with the pledge too.  Over the next 50 weeks, we will feature a special section for young activists and families.  Our community includes everyone; anyone can help make it better.
Together, generations of families can make a difference in the community!
Dr. King believed in nonviolent action. We ask that over the next year, you take actions (DO SOMETHING) to improve your community and help to make our world a better  place!
  1. Let's start by learning about Dr. King. There are many fantastic books! Check out A Picture Book of Martin Luther King, Jr. by David Adler and illustrated by Robert Casilla. Listen to LaVar Burton reading this book on "Reading Rainbow Story Time," by clicking here.
